Paging Dr. Freud

What happens when a Judge believes the only way to get through to two warring parents is through ridicule?

The result is Justice J. W. Quinn’s decision in Bruni v. Bruni, 2010 ONSC 6568(CanLII)  a divorce which contains references to Hell’s Angels, threats of bodily harm and vivid descriptions of just how bad it can get when two former spouses are “marinated in hatred”.  While Justice Quinn’s vivid language (and remarkable footnotes) make for a highly readable case for non-lawyers as well as legal types, there is more to this case than entertainment value.  As His Lordship notes most eloquently, the legal system has no remedy for hatred.  And, when parents declare war on one another, the true victims will be their children.
